"I wanted the audiences to have access whenever they wanted."

-Mandy Fabian

Mandy Fabian is a gifted creative—actor turned writer/director. These days, she's working on some pretty major projects. It was an honor to collaborate and we're thrilled with the final design!

Beyond your incredible résumé, what are some things we may not know about Mandy Fabian?

I started my career as an usher in a movie theatre in Austin TX, because I thought, "Well, I want to do movies and where do movie producers go? The movies!" And I did these announcements before the movies started that were funny and different characters. It actually did get me an audition for a local comedy group... and I got the job. The rest is history.

What project(s) are you most excited about right now?

Hemlock Drive, a feature film we're putting together to shoot next Spring. Margo Martindale is attached to star in it, and I just LOVE her.

What’s the best thing that’s happened to you from your website or social media?

I just love it when people say, "I was having a bad day, so I went to your website and you made me laugh."  That's the whole reason I switched from theatre and live comedy to film—because I wanted the audiences to have access whenever they wanted. I wanted my work to have a life beyond the live show.

What's your advice to aspiring artists—writers/directors/actors?

Try to love yourself. Lots of us go into this feeling broken, and there's a lot of rejection that you just can't take personally... so if there's one thing you want to cultivate by respecting yourself and your work, it is self-love. It's not easy, but if you really want to be good at what you do, you'll be patient and kind and loving with yourself first, and hopefully it will spread good feeling on every project you do.

Why did you choose CSM to build your website?

I liked how they were going to give me flexibility to update my site as new things come up. I feel like the death knell for any website is one that feels like it's been abandoned, and I've had a lot of web designers disappear. Because it's through Squarespace, it's meant for people to build their own sites—so it's not like I have to learn code. Also, their social media know-how gave me confidence that I could get the word out about my site or maintain a presence.

What responses have you received from your new website?

Everyone loves it!  And I've gotten some direct emails from the site which is great, so it's making new contacts for me. Couldn't be happier.

Cannot wait to hear what's next, Mandy! We love you and your work.
