"It takes a village! Find your village."
Geraldine Leer is an accomplished actress with credits ranging from Mystic Pizza to Roundabout! After taking some time away from the business to raise a family, Geraldine is back in business and ready to rock with a new website!
Here's what you won't find on GeraldineLeer.com...
What's something we may not know about Geraldine Leer?
Well... I love driving backwards.
What do you love about the digital era we live in?
Because of social media, I'm in touch with the boy that put a worm in my lunchbox in second grade.
What do you hate about the digital era we live in?
I hate the immediacy and T.M.I. (too much information) aspect of it. For example...
Just received my least-favorite text ever from son arriving home from spring break trip: "I need you to take out my stitches."— Geraldine Leer (@GeraldineLeer) March 20, 2016
What are you currently working on or towards?
This month: Just booked two funny days on David Schwimmer's new show Feed The Beast! I'm also excited to work with NYU student Gerardo Coello on his upcoming thesis film. He's an amazing young filmmaker and I predict everyone will know his name very soon.
What's your advice to aspiring actors?
Surround yourself with the best team you can. I take workshops all the time at The Actor's Green Room (join their online directory—it's a must). I'm in an ongoing scene study class at the Caymichael Patten Studio, I hone accents with Susan E. Finch and I take voice with Susan Eichhorn Young. It takes a village! Find your village.
Why did you choose to “get creative” with us?
Jen Rudolph from The Actors Greenroom is constantly saying actors need websites...that you can't ask a casting director to click around looking for you and how to contact you. So I started looking at tons of websites, and I loved your clean, "less is more" approach. When a casting director I respect was asked about websites in an AGR workshop, she rolled her eyes and said, "Please invest. Please!" I'm glad I took her advice.
How would you describe the process/experience?
Excruciating! I immediately procrastinated because I wanted it to be perfect. I soon was laughing with you about that, and my mantra became, "Done is better than none." You kept me on track, you were discerning without being judgmental, and you were funny. Perfect combination.
What responses or results have you received from your new website?
I have gotten more auditions in the last month (I list my website in the Actors Access "notes" section) than I had in the last six months. The response has been remarkable—and it's affected my confidence level. I've invested in great online real estate. I'm a happy owner!
