Gabriel Barre's Latest Production

I love what I get to do for a living!

Gabriel Barre is an accomplished director and actor. Most recently, he directed the world premiere of Stephen Schwartz's new show, Magic to Do, and Amazing Grace on Broadway. It was an honor to create a virtual home to showcase his work. Maggie and I are very proud of the finished product!

Beyond your incredible résumé, what are some things we may not know about Gabriel Barre?

I'm from Vermont and love the outdoors. I bicycle everywhere in Manhattan (year-round) to get to all my appointments. My wife is Tricia Paoluccio and we have two boys… Holden and Tristan. I love what I get to do for a living!

What project are you most excited about right now?

I try not to take on any project that I can’t be excited about… but I am really looking forward to the upcoming production of the play, Cyrano de Bergerac.

I'm directing and will also be playing the lead role… together with Rick Sordelet (who is the action director) and Alex Sovronsky (who is the composer). The score will be performed by an amazing cast of actor musicians. I've adapted the show to be performed by a cast of eight. We perform off-Broadway in February at St. Clement’s Theatre!

What’s the best thing that’s happened to you from your website or social media?

That's hard to pin down, but I know it has provided credibility and even work directly. I am very grateful for it. I also use it in design meetings for reference points or examples.

What's your advice to aspiring directors?

Do work. Be active. If you can’t afford to create something yourself, or don’t feel ready to, assist with someone you admire.

Same for actors?

Same as above, but also observe everything! Study people, art, politics and life!

Why did you choose CSM to build your website?

The main reason we decided to relaunch was so that we could more easily edit the site ourselves. I want the ability to update it often.

I was also inspired by the work Tony and Maggie did for Tricia's website. Once we started learning what Tony was doing for my new website, I realized there were so many more advantages to the current design. There's multi-platforming, easier navigation, better visuals, etc...

What responses have you received from your new website?

Total raves—from many of the composers, producers, actors and general managers I work with, as well as from friends and family. Everyone's been so impressed—and the traffic has been great to chart!
