As an actor, my purpose is to reveal truth. Sometimes, it’s not very pretty.

I was honored to design a website for this sweet and stylish multi-talent. Meet Mindee!
What's your why or purpose?
As an actor, my purpose is to reveal truth—whatever it may be. Sometimes, it’s not very pretty.
What are you currently working on or towards?
My focus for 2016 is to book a network/cable TV role. I have had some amazing audition opportunities so far this year thanks to my hardworking agent, Danita Florance.
What do you want to be known for?
I love Horror and Sci Fi and would like to work more in that genre, especially on a series.
Who’ve been some of the mentors/teachers instrumental to your success?
I really started booking when I found Rick Walters. He has had a studio in Hollywood for 45 years. He teaches natural reaction and everyone in my class is working in the industry. He is Hollywood’s best kept secret. He is a kind generous man who truly cares about his students.
Craig Wallace is a phenomenal audition coach with a lot of insight into the casting process. Studying with him, I learned to really love auditioning. Plus, he is a very insightful and special person.
Also, all the people who told me “No” or that I wasn’t “good enough “or “talented enough”. They have helped more than they will ever know.
If you could offer advice to your younger self or young aspiring artists, what would it be?
Trust your instincts, especially regarding people. If it’s too good to be true, it usually is. Also, research every potential collaborator/representative. Make sure the people you surround yourself with have great character and integrity. And, just keep trying. There will be someone out there who will believe in you if you are serious and work hard.
What do you love about the digital age we live in?
Instant information for research and also the ability to check out potential collaborators. Also, all the audition opportunities online with not only casting sites but Facebook and Twitter.
What do you hate about the digital age we live in?
The lack of face-to-face interaction and connection.
Why did you choose to “get creative” with us?
Your articles on Backstage really spoke to me. I think your website says it all.
Okay, rapid fire...
Favorite Movie: That changes all the time but my current favorite is About Mrs. Leslie with Shirley Booth. She is wonderful and this movie from 1954, is an incredible character study.
Favorite Place in LA: Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Mainly because my grandfather is buried there but also it’s a who's who of Hollywood’s past. I'd also say any place that’s still standing from the Golden Days of Hollywood.
Favorite Person in the World: Have to say my husband. I met him when I was working as the Manager of CHANEL on Rodeo Drive. He was an owner and Business Affairs Director of a talent agency. I confided that I always wanted to be an actress. He said “why not”. That was the moment I made a decision to take a giant leap, reinvent myself and follow a life long dream. He continues to support my journey in many ways and I am so fortunate to have him in my life.
Is there any last bit of advice or wisdom you’d like to share?
Stay focused, have a vision of what you want and surround yourself with like minded people.
It’s the journey, not the destination - so enjoy every minute!
Thank you for this wonderful interview and MindeeDeLacey.com! Looking forward to seeing you on bigger and bigger screens, Mindee!
