We're so excited to introduce you to Alison Mahoney, The Singing Baker! She's in the midst of launching a new web series AND cookbook... so we're incredibly grateful for this interview!


For those that don't yet know you, tell us a bit about yourself!

I am an actor/singer meets baker. I recently returned from the national tour of Evita.

After a really fun and wild confluence of events, I was dubbed "The Singing Baker"  when I battled it out for baking, and singing, domination on the Food Network competition show Sweet Genius.

 

 

Since then, I have been marrying my love of singing and baking as a regular contributor on CBS Cooking on the Couch, and have appeared on The Steve Harvey Show, HBO Vice, Great Day SA, CBS, PIX 11, and NY 1!

What are you currently working on?

I am working on my web series called... The Singing Baker

Through YouTube, I teach people how to make easy, accessible, and delicious desserts from start to finish in five minutes. Usually with a little singing in the mix! ;)



You're incredible. What’s your advice for aspiring singers?

My best advice for a singer is to find a teacher that you love, trust, and admire. Someone who is an incredible technician, is strict, but has a kind heart.

Singing is very personal, so you need to find someone who matches you perfectly and encourages you to take chances, and always makes you feel super safe. Remember, finding the perfect voice teacher is like finding the perfect husband. You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find the right fit.


What about your advice for aspiring bakers?

Don't be afraid to get messy in the kitchen. If it doesn't work the first time, TRY AGAIN, and again, and again. Experimenting in the kitchen, getting a little dirty, and making mistakes is all part of the fun! The more you get in your kitchen and add a dab of this and splash of that, the closer you are to the most sublime desserts you have ever made and tasted!

Why'd you choose to work with CSM?

Tony is a dear friend and a kindred spirit. I think what he is doing for artists in social media is nothing short of amazing. I felt I lacked a real understanding of the power of social media, so I turned to Tony. He not only has expert knowledge of all of the different social media outlets, but he also has the ability to break things down into bite-sized pieces in order to teach those less media savvy how to succeed in this social media driven world. I have gained some great insight and some solid techniques to bring my social media presence to the next level.

Send clear, consistent and high quality messages.
